In March 2014, the Korean government established an academic think tank called the Nuclearย ย Nonproliferation Education andย Research Center (NEREC) to undertake education and research to foster international nuclear nonproliferation conducive to the peaceful use of nuclear technology. The Center has three objectives: (1) to train and nurture nonproliferation human resources, (2) to conduct nonproliferation policy research combining technical expertise and policy insights, and (3) to lead discussions on the peaceful use of nuclear technology and various aspects of nuclear nonproliferation.
