Purpose:
This position is responsible for the day to day engineering technical sales activities with new and existing customers. The position (i) supports sales and business development from a technical standpoint to ensure customers satisfaction and recurring orders; provides after sales support and maintenance to customers; present and demonstrate solutions to customers and be able to show deep technical knowledge; develop relationships across organizations (ii) Battery and material level test and analysis for advanced materials and new type of batteries; Market and R&D trend/status research in battery industry and academia; (iii) Teardown and non-destructible analysis for all battery product from Samsung (iiii) Coordinate all above technical responsibilities in close collaboration and support from the Korean Center of Excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Build close relationships across customers’ organizations including senior technical management and provide product recommendations.
- Manage customer projects to completion.
- Influence customer products/system requirements around SDI’s most pertinent offering by developing strong value propositions tailored to customer.
- Coordinate with business teams in distributed locations with particular emphasis on headquarter based technical and commercial teams in Korea.
- Support the development of responsive proposals and actively participate in negotiating winning contracts by providing technical expertise.
- Analyze and provide solutions to pre/post-sale engineering/technical problems.
- Work closely with the sales team to provide technical support to customers and peers (pre and post-sale).
- R&D status and market research in terms of advanced battery materials, battery types and applications.
- Support the marketing team for aspects of technical insights and reviews.
- Experimental battery fabrication and test and analysis to verify a performance of battery materials.
- Collaborate with HQ in Korea to ensure customer satisfaction and timely resolution of issues.
- Follow up for building up and maintenance of test equipment/facility.
- Perform other duties as related to the job function as required.
- Some travel required (10-30%).
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemical science or Electro chemical science or Material science or Material engineering or Energy engineering or Energy science with 8+ years of lithium-ion battery related experience. Postdoctoral research experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid and high growth environment.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a high level of creativity within uncompromised integrity
- Self-starter mentality with strong technical, analytic and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated focus on quality and customer service
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
- Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification and background check.
- Proficient in Korean and Engligh speaking preferred.
Computer Skills:
Full proficiency in MS Office, statistical programs expertise, Lab equipment operating program expertise
